How can I change providers with an existing domain?
Example:  | A customer orders a domain at fairio (with web hosting package if need be).

| When ordered, our system will automatically acknowledge the fact that the domain already exists. It therefore has to be transferred.

| The customer then receives a pdf file and information concerning the transfer per email. The customer then sends the form per fax or post to his present provider and a copy to fairio. We will start the transfer as soon as we receive the copy. |

.de Domain Names
What do I have to consider when registering a .de domain?
DE domains must have at least 3 characters and are not allowed to be identical to German license plate codes. Please make sure that your domain name is not a registered trademark and that nobody has the rights for the name you wish to register.

Am I registered as owner and admin c when I register a domain?
Yes, you will of course be registered as the owner and as Admin C of your domain.

How can I make changes to my NIC data?
Sometimes it is necessary to change your registration data at the NIC, if your address changes for example.
Send an email with the new data to our support team, and we will then change your registration data at the NIC. This is only necessary if your address changes. It is not necessary if transfered to a different name/person.

Redirecting my Main Domain
How do I redirect my main domain to a sub directory?
In the config menu you can assign an extra domain to a directory. If your web site is in a sub directory and you do not wish to move it, you have the possibility to forward directly to it:
Create a .htaccess file in your www directory. Write the following lines into your .htaccess file:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} yourdomain.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^$ www.yourdomain.com/directory

Redirect a Domain
How can I redirect my domain to another external domain?
This can be done using a so called ".htaccess" ´file. Create a ".htaccess" file. The file must be situated in your www-folder with the following content:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} yourdomain.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^$ http://www.externaldomain.com/directory/

IDN Domains (Umlaut Domains)
Can I register IDN Domains?
Yes, at present you can register internationalised domains (so called IDN domains / umlaut domains). You can check if the desired domain ending is IDN (umlaut) compatible using the fairio Domaincheck.
